VIDEO: How Does Solar Work for Your Home?
Just like photosynthesis captures the power of the sun to grow plants, a solar photovoltaic (PV) system captures the power of the sun
With the rising cost of energy, it’s no wonder a growing number of homeowners are interested in a Tesla Powerwall solar battery. Pairing a battery with solar allows you to self-consume more of the solar energy your array produces, can protect against power outages, and help save you money on your utility bills by stabilizing energy costs.
We are a certified Tesla Powerwall installer. Popular for it’s backup capabilities and minimalist design, the Tesla Powerwall is one of three solar + storage options that we offer. We provide a custom assessment of your home and energy needs to find the right solution for your family.
The Tesla brand is known for innovation. What makes Powerwall stand out is it’s proven track record and outstanding technology.
Your solar array absorbs the sun’s natural energy and converts it into usable energy for your home. Without a battery, the excess energy passes through to the grid. With a battery like the Tesla Powerwall paired with your solar array, the excess energy from the sun fills up your battery during the day so your family can put it to use after the sun goes down. Now you are using the sun’s energy for most of the day, reducing the total amount of energy pulled from the grid and charged by your utility.
The Powerwall is connected to your system via a Tesla Gateway. This device monitors power in and out of the batteries.
When a Powerwall battery receives notification from the National Weather Service, the battery automatically enters Storm Mode to make sure your battery is fully charged before severe weather arrives. The Tesla battery backup provides a seamless transition in the case of an outage.
Whether you’re looking to add on to you existing solar array or want a whole solar + battery solution, StraightUp Solar can get you started with a custom assessment.
Gain remote access to your solar energy production easily from your mobile device. With the Tesla app you can monitor your solar energy in real time. Easily adjust your preferences to optimize for energy independence, outage protection, or savings. Remote access and instant alerts let you control your system from anywhere.
In this webinar recording, StraightUp Solar Southern Illinois Project Developers discuss how the Tesla Powerwall works, how much it costs, and what incentives are available to help you offset the costs of the Powerwall. Now you can keep the lights on even when the power is out with solar and the Tesla Powerwall.
The energy needs of your family and home differ from those of others. That can make choosing the right storage solution a challenge. Your StraightUp Solar Project Developer will perform a custom assessment and can suggest the right solution for you. Currently, we offer Tesla Powerwall, Generac PWRcell, and Enphase iQ Battery. Whether you want to add on to an existing array or are looking for a whole solar + battery solution, we’ve got you covered.
For all battery options, you may be eligible for federal and utility incentives. When you pair a battery with a solar array, the battery and storage system is included in the value of the array for the credit calculation. In 2022, the federal Investment Tax Credit is 26% of the array’s cost (credit drops to 22% in 2023).
A new battery incentive will soon be available for Illinois homeowners with Ameren Illinois or ComEd utility. More details coming soon.
