A solar PV (photovoltaic) system is a unified network of equipment that works together to power your home with clean and sustainable energy. The solar array, a connected set of panels, collects the sun’s energy during the day. An inverter transforms that energy into ready-to-use electricity to power appliances, air conditioning, and more.
If excess energy is present, it goes to the local power grid, and the utility company provides you a credit to use during the night hours – a process called net metering. You can track your system’s production and efficiency online anytime.

Solar installation projects are now viewed similarly to home renovations, such as kitchen or bathroom upgrades. Recent studies have also shown that homes with solar sell for a higher value than traditionally-powered houses. StraightUp Solar’s special partnership with Pearl ensures that homeowners can demonstrate the value of their solar investment.
Choosing renewable energy like solar reduces our society’s dependence on finite fossil fuels. Remember, the sun’s energy is natural, clean and all around us.
Our solar installation company in Bloomington, IL, can help you reap the benefits of residential incentives. Illinois homeowners can save up to 65% on their solar project with incentives and rebates, such as the following:

Illinois Solar For All (ILSFA) is a state program that benefits income-eligible and environmental justice communities in Illinois. The State of Illinois offers this program to meet its renewable energy goals and to bring the expansion of solar energy to income-eligible communities. With state and utility funding, Illinois Solar For All pays incentives to solar companies and passes the savings onto income-eligible households, non-profit organizations and public facilities.

2024 provides the final opportunity to secure full-price retail net metering rates for Illinois solar homeowners. After January 1, 2025, investor-owned Illinois utilities (Ameren Illinois and ComEd) will pay less for net metering credits, reducing payments from full retail rates to just the supply rate.
What is Net Metering? It is essentially a financial exchange compensating solar owners for the excess energy their solar array produces during peak solar hours that is exported to the utility grid.
By having your array installed before 2024 ends, you will be locked into the current peak net metering rate. Our build schedule is filling up, but there’s still time to have your solar PV system installed to capture the summer sunshine!
Solar energy solutions for the commercial and industrial sectors contain various customer types, sizes, and designs. Whether you’re a nonprofit organization, school, farm, or government office, our commercial solar installers in Bloomington can create a custom solution for you.
Commercial solar systems can generate energy from the sun for immediate use for your building operations. This power, called distributed generation, connects to your building’s electrical system and can offset electricity pulled from the utility grid. Our commercial solar systems are tied to the utility grid, ensuring safe and seamless electrical use throughout your business.

Your business’ solar panels use the sun’s energy
to produce direct current (DC) electricity
The inverter converts the DC electricity to alternating
current (AC) electricity and sends it to your standard AC
electrical panel.
Solar electricity used by your business is electricity you do
not purchase from the utility grid.
Your solar system works in coordination with the utility
grid. Any demand that is not met by your solar array
is supplied by the grid. Any excess solar electricity that
is not used at your facility will be sent to the grid.
Track your system’s production using an online
monitoring portal which is linked directly from your
inverter.
Cash flow is of utmost importance to businesses. By owning your company’s power source, you can lock in energy generation and become less exposed to the continuously rising utility rates. You can use the money you save to grow your business.
Your company’s investment in a solar system is an investment in our planet’s future. As a result, you’re spreading a message to employees, potential customers, investors, and the community that you take renewable energy sources seriously. You can also further your corporate leadership by installing EV charging stations.
Annual savings make solar a low-risk investment with a powerful ROI. A low, essentially fixed electricity rate for the 25+ year lifespan of your array, a manufacturer’s warranty on panels, and operations & maintenance options from our service team protect your investment.
Our solar installation company in Bloomington is here to help you save. There are several commercial incentives available to make solar more affordable for you. They include:
Those whose systems were “placed in service” between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2032, can receive 30% of the complete system cost back as a credit against their total tax liability for that year. Additional incentives may be available if your business is located in low-income or former coal communities.
Good news for Nonprofits and Government entities! Thanks to the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, solar energy has become more affordable for Nonprofit and Govt organizations with the Direct Pay of the Federal Investment Tax Credit. This new feature of the tax credit allows non-tax paying entities to receive the full value of the tax credit by making the 30% tax credit refundable. Non-profit organizations and governments can use that direct payment amount to reduce the cost of their system. Learn more about incentives for nonprofit and government entities here.
Note: We are not tax professionals, please consult with your tax advisor about how this credit can work for your business.
Your company could recoup roughly 12-25% of the original system price through this incentive.
With Illinois Solar Renewable Energy Credits, you could recover 30-35% of the original solar system cost with cash payments upfront or over seven years, depending on system size.
