As a part of our CLEARE values to “Respect for Each Other and the Environment,” StraightUp Solar has committed to becoming carbon neutral by the end of 2020 (See our Commitment Statement). We believe that reducing our emissions is a very important step in our journey to create a healthy planet.
We completed a carbon inventory of the greenhouse gas emissions generated from our operations and employee commutes and subtracting the emissions saved from our 99kW solar array at our headquarters office. The difference required us to offset our carbon emissions by purchasing carbon offsets. We selected Native, a fellow B Corp, to purchase these credits. Native partners with Carbon Tanzania to fund the REDD in Yaeda Valley project. The project prevents deforestation in the Yaeda Valley of Tanzania while supporting the local citizens in the valley by diversifying their sources of income.
Watch the video below to learn more about the REDD in the Yaeda Valley project and find out how you can partner with Native on this project to go carbon neutral, too.
As always, we want to broaden our impact and positively influence the community we live in. Would your business join us in declaring a Climate Emergency and make a commitment, by December 31, 2020, to carbon neutrality? Email us at communications@straightupsolar.com to join our declaration.
