Contest Rules

By entering the StraightUp Solar Pride Photo Contest: Illinois Edition 2022, you agree to the following rules, terms, and conditions.

Contest Rules & Regulations

  1. Eligibility: Contest is open to StraightUp Solar customers who are over the age of 18 as of October 5, 2022. Contestants must be residents of the state of Illinois. Employees of StraightUp Solar are not eligible to submit photos.
  2. How to Enter: To successfully enter the contest, you must submit a photo of your yard sign and yourself and/or family in front of your house or array to our Contest Page. Please use safety precautions when taking a photo of your home or business and array. One entry per registrant. Additional eligibility rules include:
    1. You must be a StraightUp Solar customer to enter.
    2. An eligible photo must have a picture of the StraightUp Solar Go Solar (Sunny Yellow) or Gone Solar (Classic Blue) yard sign. Preferred pictures are of individuals (Pets count) in front of their house or business with the solar array visible (if possible) or in front of their ground-mounted solar array with their array visible in the picture. 
    3. Photos must be in color.
    4. Image must be of good quality (not blurry or out of focus).
    5. A photo is ineligible if it is digitally altered beyond standard optimization. You are allowed to remove dust specs or red eye, crop the image, or make minor corrections to the exposure, color, or contrast. Any photo with embedded text, signature, watermark, copyright symbol or logo is also ineligible.
    6. No photo can be submitted that depicts an illegal activity. StraightUp Solar has the right to disqualify any photo they deem obscene or offensive or that falls outside the spirit of the contest. No political campaign signs visible.
    7. The photo is an original photo.
    8. You received photo release permission from any and all people who appear in the photo, including the parents of or legal guardians of people under 18 years of age.
    9. No third party has any claim, right, interest in the photo, and it does not infringe on the intellectual property, copyright to publish or right of privacy of any third party (including as a result of an entry in another contest).
  3. Contest Time Frame: The contest begins at 12:00 am (CST) on October 5, 2022. All entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm (CST) on October 31, 2022. Deadline for voting is 12:00 PM (CST) November 9, 2022.
  4. Contest Prizes: First prize (1) $100 gift card to either Amazon, Target or Home Depot to be selected by the winner; Second prize: (1) Solar powered phone charger; Third prize: (2) Bamboo utensil sets.  No cash or other prize substitution will be allowed, except at StraightUp Solar’s discretion. Prizes will be sent via mail to winners.
  5. Contest Judging: Photo entries will be ranked by the number of votes on the voting deadline. Entries must meet the contest entry requirements. If bots or other automated programs are used to generate votes, the entrant will be disqualified. StraightUp Solar will confirm customer status based on name, email address, and/or residence address submitted by the entrant. Name, email address, and residence address need to match StraightUp Solar customer records. If this information is not provided to StraightUp Solar the entrant will be disqualified. In the case of a tie in votes, photo quality will be the tie-breaker, determined by a StraightUp Solar employee panel. Winners will receive an email notification and will be publicly announced across StraightUp Solar marketing channels on November 16, 2022. 
  6. Time period for winner to respond: Winners have until December 31, 2022 at 11:59 pm (CST) to claim their prize.
  7. Photo submission: By submitting a photo in the contest, you grant StraightUp Solar an irrevocable, royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive license to use, publicly display, distribute, reproduce, provide to the media or another third party, edit and create distinctive works in whole or in part of the photo in any media now known or later developed for any purpose, including but not limited to advertising and marketing. StraightUp Solar will not be required to offer you any compensation, credit or additional consideration to seek any additional approval; or to provide you with any notification in connection with such use.
  8. Agreement to Rules: By participating in the contest, you agree to be bound by these rules and meet the eligibility requirements mentioned in this document. Further, you agree to accept the decisions made by StraightUp Solar as final and binding as it relates to the contest.
  9. Privacy Policy: You must agree to provide your name, email address, and residence address for the purposes of this contest. StraightUp Solar will only use this information to verify your identity and eligibility. Contest winners may be identified by StraightUp Solar by the first name, last initial (example: John D.) and city on StraightUp Solar’s website, enewsletter, social media posts, and other marketing channels.
  10. Terms: StraightUp Solar reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the contest should anything or anyone affect the administration, security, fairness or conduct of the contest. StraightUp Solar reserves the right to disqualify any individual who attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of this contest or website or violates the terms and conditions described in this document.
  11. Applicability: This contest is subject to all local, state and federal laws and regulations. Any local, state or federal taxes on prizes are solely the responsibility of the winners.
  12. Limitations of Liability: Contest entrants must agree to defend, hold harmless and indemnify StraightUp Solar and its employees from any loss, damage, injury or death related to your participation in the contest or your acceptance, possession or use of any of its prizes. 
  13. StraightUp Solar acknowledges that this promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Amazon, Home Depot, Target, or any other brand represented in the contest or prizes.
