James Hurster

James joined the StraightUp Solar team in 2026, bringing a robust professional background in the renewable energy sector. James assisted hundreds of homeowners in navigating the transition to solar energy from years as a solar project developer. His experience helps his customers clearly understand their solar PV system production and the installation process. 

James earned his degree from Missouri State University, where he majored in Communications/Mass Media with a minor in Marketing & Sales.

Beyond his professional commitments, James is a dedicated single father to his two teenagers: Maveric, a high school Senior, and Lola, a Freshman. Let’s not forget his dog Rocky who is James’ best friend in the whole world.

His lifelong athletic background and competitive drive are evident in all his endeavors. While attending Eureka High School, James was a State Swimmer and Water Polo player. His team set a school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay and he takes great pride in having led the Water Polo team to a 3rd place finish in the State Water Polo Championship.
