Community Benefits When Elks Lodge Saves With Solar

The Anna-Jonesboro Elks Lodge #1641 can dedicate more funds for veterans and children programs throughout Southern Illinois because of the electricity savings generated by their 39kW rooftop solar PV system. The Lodge went solar in 2025 with StraightUp Solar, after a recommendation from their member electricians. The system, offsetting 85% of their building’s energy, is estimated to save $7,000 in the first year and more than $240,000 over its lifetime.

“The process was seamless, outstanding. They were very knowledgeable and answered all my questions”, said Tim Bowen, Senior Trustee of Illinois Elks Association Southern District.
