StraightUp Solar, a locally-owned solar sales, installation, and service company, is seeking an experienced Safety Manager. The Safety Manager is directly responsible for managing the safety and risk associated with construction projects and company operations. The Safety Manager will proactively plan, direct and implement the Company’s safety program to ensure a safe, healthy and accident free work environment. The Safety Manager supports field leadership in ensuring each construction project is conducted in a safe manner for the protection of our employees, clients, subcontractors, and the general public. The Safety Manager ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, county and local safety related regulations and industry best practices. The Safety Manager sets the tone for Company safety, demonstrates strong leadership skills, works well in a team environment, has excellent communication skills and strives to enrich the Company Culture.
The ideal candidate can evaluate safety policy and protocols and make educated recommendations, prioritize and organize safety training, perform or schedule mock OSHA safety site visits, and competently manage the full administrative duties of the position. There is no administrative support for this position. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry and be familiar with state and federal safety compliance. Experience in the solar industry is welcomed, however, knowledge of similar industries (roofing and electrical) are valuable. Some overnight travel may be required.

Safety Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the Safety Team and Safety Committee.
- Schedule and perform multiple site safety visits weekly.
- Manage Safety Team SOP development
- Supervise and train safety ambassadors on performing site safety visits.
- Enforce policies to support a strong safety culture.
- Engage in crucial and coachable conversations.
- Issue safety violations and track required consequences/compliance and documentation.
- Develop and deliver high quality in-person and online safety training.
- Maintain safety training databases at the company and individual compliance levels.
- OSHA 300, 301, 300A record keeping and annual reporting.
- Serve as the point person when interacting with OSHA.
- Conduct accident and incident investigations.
- Perform orientation safety training.
- Communicate safety guidance to field members.
- Identify site specific safety issues (strong emphasis on Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, and LOTO procedures in the project review stage).
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards.
- Manage Company subcontractor safety program.
- Review, purchase, distribute and track all personal and crew PPE.
- Conduct annual PPE inspection and train crews on daily PPE inspection procedures.
- Monitor, evaluate and improve company electrical glove and arc flash PPE programs.
- Track work boot purchases toward yearly stipend limit.
- Review and update Company Emergency Action Plan on an annual basis.
- Review and score Daily Job Briefings and address issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and acceptance with our company auto insurance (clean record) required.
- 5+ years’ experience in the construction safety field.
- OSHA 30, First Aid, PPE Inspector, CPR and Fall Protection Certifications.
- Intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Applications.
- Ability to effectively conduct training and meetings via a virtual meeting platform.
- Highly self-motivated and self directed.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and consistently meet deadlines.
- Positive attitude, leadership skills and ability to plan ahead.
- Exercise creative, innovative and effective problem solving.
- Authentically invested in professionalism and strong work ethic.
- Candidate must possess, or successfully complete, NFPA 70E Training within 6 months of hire.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (preferred).
- Certified Safety Professional (preferred).
- Solar experience (preferred).

- Ability to lift 75 pounds.
- Ability to navigate heights and uneven surfaces.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to sit in a vehicle while driving long distances.
- Ability to sit in an office chair for extended periods.
Position Information:

- Full Time: An estimated 45-50 hours per week depending on the time of year.
- Pay Structure: Salary position, paid twice a month.
- Salary range depending on experience: $70-80,000 annually
- Work Schedule: 5 Days Per Week – M-F
