A/R Accounting Specialist Job Description

StraightUp Solar, a fast-growing, locally-owned solar installation company, is seeking a Full Time – A/R Accounting Specialist for its St. Louis, MO office. Qualified candidates should be self-motivated and demonstrate attention to detail and accountability. They should also enjoy multi-tasking as a problem solver in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.

Education: Associates+ (Preferred)

Experience: Min. of 3-5 years Accounting (Service and/or Construction Industry/QuickBooks a plus)

Full Time: An estimated 40-45 hours per week dependent on the time of year.

Pay Structure: Hourly Supplemental: Bonus/Profit Share

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 – $50,000.00 per year

COVID-19: Vaccinated

Work Schedule: 7:30 AM Start Time, 5 Days Per Week – M-F (Load Dependent: Could require an occasional early start for select crew meetings) Critical/Pivotal Role Requiring exceptional attendance and reliability. Not eligible for 100% remote work classification. (Some remote available for the ideal candidate).

Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking an individual with strong A/R bookkeeping (experience with QuickBooks Enterprise Contractor Edition (QBE) is +, MS Office/Google Suite, and working knowledge of CRM software programs. Prefer experience with detailed job costing. The individual must have a good understanding of accounts receivable with accrual basis accounting and deferred revenue recognition.

  • Journal Entries and Account Reconciliation (QuickBooks Certified a plus)
  • Accounting strategies and process improvement to maximize efficiencies
  • Monitor project cash flow and communicate with project management on milestones
  • Ensure timely updates and reconciliation on project P & Ls
  • Support internal audits
  • Proficient with Excel files
  • Attend planning/project/service meetings as necessary to support project management needs
  • Participate in Month-end/Year-end closing tasks
  • Daily interaction with accounting, project management, service and inventory management software and processes.
  • Assist with journal entries, new accounting processes, and integration
  • Perform special project requests pertaining to financial management

  • Superior self-awareness, accountability, confidence, and poise while juggling numerous tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and follow through on assigned tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Great computer technology skills, CRM experience, MS office, and google apps such as Gmail. Excel proficient including Pivot Tables & VLOOKUP.
  • Solution-minded, and always looking for ways to improve efficiency and communication.
  • Clean driving record with reliable transportation.
  • Proven track record highlighting examples of being a self-starter while managing numerous priorities.
  • Minimum Education: Associates – Bachelor’s Preferred
  • Strong focus on logistical solutions and processes
  • A focus on continuous improvement and efficiency is a strong plus
  • Strong ability to manage numerous priorities, multitask, and follow through on assigned tasks and projects with minimal supervision
  • Previous experience in solar industry and/or construction accounting a plus.
