The Oakley-Lindsay Center, Quincy’s performing arts and convention center complex unveiled their new solar photovoltaic system, estimated to generate 70% of the building’s electricity usage.

“Going solar was the right decision for our facility to reduce our operating costs and lock in long-term savings for electricity”, said Christopher Landwehr, Executive Director, Oakley-Lindsay Center.

The 391 kilowatt solar photovoltaic system will produce an estimated 463,100 kilowatt hours of energy in the first year. Through a unique Power Purchase Agreement with StraightUp Legacy Fund, LLC, the civic center will receive a 14% reduction in their electric rates over the next 25 years, totalling over $100,000. The $550,000 system required no initial investment from the civic center. The Legacy Fund is a subsidiary of StraightUp Solar, LLC, a solar photovoltaic system design, installation and maintenance provider in Illinois and Missouri. The system earned solar renewable energy credits from Illinois Shines, a state-administered incentive program from the Illinois Power Agency, along with a utility rebate and federal tax credits.

StraightUp Solar installation teams built the system, attaching 1,046 solar modules on the roof and connecting 6 inverters to the arrays. The system was completed on January 21, 2022.

“We were honored to assist the Oakley-Lindsay Center in funding their solar electric system. Our crews were proud to build this system to showcase the benefits of clean energy to the Quincy and west-central Illinois community,” said StraightUp Solar Founder and President, Dr. Dane Glueck.

Founded in 2006, StraightUp Solar provides design, installation, and maintenance services for solar photovoltaic energy capture and storage systems. Certified as a B Corporation, StraightUp Solar’s design and installation portfolio ranges from small residential rooftop systems to large municipal and commercial roof and ground-mount installations.
