StraightUp Solar’s Own Solar Energy Production – See It Live!

Believing that the greatest form of “A”dvocacy within our CLEARE values is to literally be a solar-powered solar company, in June of 2014 StraightUp Solar took the surprisingly unique action of installing our own 30.74 KW solar array atop our main headquarters facility at 10330 Page Industrial Blvd in St. Louis.   We are officially the greater St Louis region’s only solar-powered solar company (just think about that for a minute…)!

In addition to offsetting our carbon footprint (by 35 tons a year!) and reducing our facility and electric vehicle operating expenses as a good business decision (i.e. we produced over %15 of electricity (190kwh) on 13 Sep 2014), one of our other goals was to demonstrate for our facility and on-line visitors just how easy it is to operate and monitor the health and performance of a solar PV system with today’s advanced and integrated designs.

It is virtually industry standard today that all solar inverters include or have the option to include internet-based near-real time status and production monitoring as well as historical energy production and environmental impact summaries.  This gives solar system owners a very intimate by-the-minute connection with their energy production, something they’ve never had the opportunity to experience when buying purely utility-provided energy.  And because they can read it on their smart phones, their connection is always as close as their pockets for a quick “happy peek” or to inspire their friends and colleagues to also join the exponentially growing solar Tribe (we promise that you’ll show off your smart solar purchase to friends no less than you would a shiny new convertible).  The best part is that these monitoring systems also allow StraightUp Solar to monitor system health with clients and to receive e-mail alerts if any anomalies pop-up that would require a service call—how’s that for supporting the Tribe!

StraightUp Solar has the ability to custom design a solar system to perfectly match your exact needs. We invite you now to explore our three example rooftop solar arrays via each system’s public kiosk view below:

  • 7.3 KW Enphase Microinverter System
    • Consists of 28 x Suniva OPT260-60-4-100 monocrystalline modules in four (4) rows at 10◦ tilt
    • Each module is connected to an attached dedicated single-phase, 240V AC Enphase M215 microinverter
    • Provides module-level monitoring and power production optimization
    • Great for partially shaded applications or complex roof layouts
    • Supports single- and three-phase installations
    • Most popular microinverter on the market (but slightly higher cost than central inverters)
    • 25-year production warranties on modules and inverters

  • 6.6 KW SMA Central Inverter System
    • Consists of 26 x Suniva MVX255-60-5-701 multicrystalline modules
    • Utilizes one (1) SMA 6000US-12 central inverter with two (2) 13-module strings
    • Provides dual string-level power production optimization and inverter-level monitoring
    • Provides owner and installer with system e-mail alerts; includes integrated data logger
    • Supports single- and three-phase installations
    • Lower cost than microinverter designs
    • Can be installed outdoors or indoors (as at StraightUp Solar facility)
    • Newest SMA inverters include Secure Power Backup Receptacle for emergency power when grid goes down & sun is shining)
    • 25-year production warranty on modules & 10-year inverter workmanship warranty

  • 16.8 KW Fronius Central Inverter System
    • Consists of two sub-arrays:
      • 26 x Suniva MVX255-60-5-701 multicrystalline modules connected to one (1) single-phase Fronius IG Plus A 7.5-1 central inverter = 6.63 KW
      • 40 x Suniva MVX255-60-5-701 multicrystalline modules connected to one (1) three-phase Fronius IG Plus A 11.4-3D central inverter = 10.2 KW
    • Provides dual string-level power production optimization and inverter-level monitoring
    • Provides owner and installer with system status e-mail alerts
    • Excellent inverter for three-phase applications, but also supports single-phase applications
    • Lower cost than microinverter designs
    • Can be installed outdoors or indoors (as at StraightUp Solar facility)
    • 25-year production warranty on modules & 10-year inverter workmanship warranty
